As we have postponed the Linda Franks Race we have chosen to put on a virtual version for you, to be run between the dates shown.
All you have to do is run (and log) 5 miles. The route should ideally start and finish at (roughly) the same location in order to ensure that it is elevation-neutral – otherwise, any (safe!) option is open to you. You also have as many attempts at this as you wish; we’ll simply log your best time.
Use the form from the link below to post your time – please use your actual name on the form entry so that it will be matched when your time is processed!
We will publish your (best) time against the results from last year’s actual race (your time will be highlighted in purple; last year’s race times in grey) so you can get an idea of how you fare – perhaps even against yourself if you ran last year’s race.
We will also categorise age groups. The age categories will be based on your age as of 20th January, the corresponding date for last year’s race. This may mean that you will find yourself in a different category from your ‘former’ you, again if you ran the race last year.
As a bonus, Tewkesbury Running Club is holding a virtual Not The Guy Fawkes 5 which takes place between 9th and 17th January – you could kill two races with one run! There is an entry fee for this race, proceeds of which go to the ‘Scoo-B-Doo’ neonatal unit at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, and some prizes are on offer. Details, and the entry, are at Entry Central.
After a chilly but bright start on the athletics track of Tilsley Park, the Abingdon marathon got underway with close to 800 competitors. A good representation of Almost Athletes were in attendance, including 6 members of the same running family putting sibling rivalry to the test.
