The race is over an undulating course starting and
finishing at The Kings School. Water will be available on
the course, at approximately 3 mile intervals and at the
finish area. There will be plenty of marshals on the course.
Please obey their instructions at all times. Mile markers are
at every mile, and a time clock at the finish.
INFORMATION DESK AT RACE HQ
Pick up of chips and numbers, late entries and other
matters. A race profile with risk assessments and the UKA
race permit will be available for scrutiny.
RACE H.Q. & CAR PARK
Witney is just off the A40, approx. 13 miles from Oxford
and 27 miles from Cheltenham. The race HQ is on a quiet
road just to the north of the town. Parking is available
There will be some changing facilities in the school
classrooms. A few showers may be available but no
guarantee. Toilets are in the main school building, but bear
in mind this is a junior school so the facilities are designed
for young children.
SECURE BAGGAGE AREA
A secure area is provided within the school for your kit.
Please use the facility, as we cannot be responsible for
items left in the changing rooms. Somebody will be on
hand with the bags during the race but you still leave any
baggage at your own risk.
RACE CATEGORIES & PRIZES
Please refer to the entry form and the list displayed on
race day. Wine will be given to the 1st Male Team (4 to
count) and 1st Female Team (3 to count) in the 10 mile

The Cotswold Classic is a firmly established event in the local running calendar and is once again the
Oxfordshire County 10 Mile Road Race Championship. The club wishes to thank all the Oxfordshire County
officials, marshals and helpers, The Kings School and all our sponsors, who enable us to hold the race. Your
race number and timing chip will be available to pick up on the day. Have a good run, but most of all enjoy

THE START AND FINISH
The race starts and finishes at the school.
Will all runners please compete the important details on
the reverse of the running number as soon as you receive
it on race day.
AT THE FINISH
The finishing line is the start of the finish funnel, and this
is where times will be recorded. Your number will be
recorded automatically once you cross the line.
Water and beer will be available at the finish. A
refreshment stall will also be available.
You will need to pick up your timing chip and number
on the day. The number should be securely fixed to the
front of your vest. Safety pins will be available. Do not
fold, cut down or deface your number as this may lead
to disqualification. Do not give your number to another
runner without informing the information desk, as it could
result in confusion and disqualification.
There will be qualified first aid cover and an ambulance.
The medical HQ will be located close to the finish area
at Race HQ. The Course Marshals are available to report
casualties to Medical HQ.
USE OF HEADPHONES IS NOT
PERMITTED AND WILL RESULT
Please note that any runners using headphones during
the race will be disqualified. It is essential that all runners
are able to hear instructions from marshals and course
officials and that they can hear traffic and emergency
vehicles approaching from both directions.
The 10 mile race is run under UKA rules. Runners should
adhere to instructions of marshals. As mentioned
previously runners using head phones will be disqualified.
Spectators must not follow the race on bicycles, skates,
scooters, motorbike or car. No dogs with runners please.
There will be a lead car, and a bike or car following at the
rear of the field. In order to process results in time for
the presentation at 1.00p.m. there will be an official time
limit for recording finishers of 2.5 hours, after which time
the race officials and marshals will be withdrawn and any
runners remaining on the course will do so at their own
Results will be available at the finish
Witney does not have a train station. The S1 Bus runs every
half an hour from Oxford on Sundays. It can be boarded
at the Bus Station and Train Station in Oxford. Alight at
Newlands in Witney and follow the race signs.
It’s approximately 1 mile to the Race HQ.
