Imperial Marathon and metric marathon

The Imperial Marathon will be a major challenge for both experienced runners and for those attempting this distance for the first time.

The 26.66 mile route has both on and off-road sections with the route climbing from 233ft to 1739ft above sea level, incurring an overall accent of 3133ft. The on-road section from Bridgnorth to the Brown Clee Hill and back accounts for just over 19 miles.  However, the toughest part is the Brown Clee Hill section. On forest trails, steep banks and stony tracks, the route loops round Shropshire’s highest hill before the undulating return to Bridgnorth.

The route experiences many elevation changes challenging the fittest runners. Runners should not underestimate the seriousness of the challenge.

The fee for our Imperial Marathon Runners is £35.00, which not only provides a contribution to the cost of staging the event but also towards Lions’ charity funds.

The Metric Marathon is 25.86 Kilometres and is nearly all on road. It takes in some of the best parts of the marathon route without the rigours of Brown Clee Hill and the off road demanding section.

With a total ascent of 1361 feet, it is a perfect challenge for anyone who wants a good and testing warm-up for future marathons.

Both event starts at 9:30am from Bridgnorth High St (half an hour earlier than walkers). Water Stations every mile will be on hand.

The fee for marathon runners is £35 and for the metric marathon £25, which not only provides a contribution to the cost of staging the event but also towards Lions’ charity funds.
